Residential Case Study: Solar PV Installation

Location: Hull, East Riding of Yorkshire

System Size: 7.5 kWp Solar PV with 20.7 kWh Fox ESS Battery & Emergency Power Supply

Annual Generation: 5,690 kWh

Client Brief

Mr Turner had recently transitioned from gas central heating to an Air Source Heat Pump (ASHP) and wanted to further reduce his household energy costs. His goals were twofold:

  • Offset running costs of the ASHP and household electricity usage.
  • Ensure energy security with an emergency power supply in case of grid outages.

Our Solution

We designed and installed a bespoke solar PV system tailored to his property’s roof space, energy usage patterns, and backup requirements. The system features:

  • Solar Panels: DMEGC 500 W N-Type high-efficiency panels, optimised for maximum yield in UK conditions.
  • Battery Storage: 20.7 kWh Fox ESS battery storage system, providing substantial capacity for evening and night-time use.
  • Emergency Power Supply (EPS): Ensures essential circuits remain powered during grid failures.

System Performance

  • Annual Solar Generation: 5,690 kWh
  • Battery Utilisation: Enables energy self-consumption and reduced reliance on grid imports.
  • Backup Capability: EPS keeps key appliances running during outages, enhancing resilience.

Results & Benefits

  • Significant electricity bill savings by directly consuming generated solar energy.
  • Carbon footprint reduction through clean energy production.
  • Energy independence with battery storage and EPS functionality.
  • System designed to work seamlessly with the ASHP, maximising renewable heating efficiency.

Client Testimonial

“The solar system has transformed the way we use energy. Not only have my running costs gone down, but I also have peace of mind knowing that if there’s ever a power cut, we’re still covered.” – Mr Turner
